Summary of „Lost Boy“ by Christina Henry
Good morning
Today I want to present you the summary of the book „Lost Boy“ written by Christina Henry.
I choose this book because I thought it is the story about Peter Pan, but it is completely different.
The book was published by titanbooks, costs 7,99 pounds and has 318 pages.
I would like to start by introducing the author of the book.
Christina Henry was born in New York on 13th august 1974. Her real name is Tina Raffaele and the pseudonym Christina Henry includes all the names of her family.
Chris is the name of her husband, Tina her real name and Henry is the name of her son. She now lives with her family in Chicago.
She writes books in the horror and dark fantasy genre.
Christina Henry published her first book „ Black Wings“ in 2010. It was the first of five books of the „Black Wings Books“. After that she wrote the chronicles of Alice Books and in 2017 she published „Lost Boy“.
In 2015 she won the award „Amazon`s best books of the year in science fiction and fantasy“.
Now I present you my summary:
The story of the book „Lost Boys“ from Christina Henry, written in 2017 follows Jaime, the first lost boy Peter brought to Neverland. At one point it was too boring for Peter to always play only with Jamie so he decided to bring more boys to Neverland to have more fun. But Jamie was growing up and one day he became the greatest enemy of Peter, Captain Hook.
Peter, the leader of the lost boys promised the boys a paradise of adventures, fun, and no rules. In this world called Neverland they never have to grow up.
But when they got to the island, they got into a nightmare with violence and they saw that fun for Peter was when someone dies. The life for the boys was hard, they got ill when they slept because it is cold and they had to kill animals to have something to eat. So it was very hard for them to survive.
The boys Peter had chosen to take to Neverland were lost because no one cared about them and they didn’t have a good childhood. But the lifes of the boys meant nothing to Peter.
When they died of sickness, in battles with pirates, or many-eyed which is the name of gigantic spiders in Neverland, he simply went to finds more boys in the other place. If he has no one to play with, he is not happy and that’s not good.
Jaime was the first lost boy, Peter brought to Neverland and he is the one who tells the story. Jaime seems like the missing mother of this place. He is the one who cares about the boys when they are sick or need to be protected.
One day Peter brought Charlie to Neverland. Instead of the boys he brought before in the ages of 10 years, Charlie was only 5 years old. In that age he had no chance to fight against the pirates or the many eyed. Because Jamie cared about Charlie, Peter was getting very jealous.
Peter decided to attack the pirate camp. That meant that the boys had to make a dangerous trek across the area of the many-eyed and Peter hoped that Charlie would not survive that trek.
It was a long way to the pirate camp so they made a break because it was already dark. A many-eyed came and Peter knew that the boys couldn’t beat the monster. Peter didn’t do anything so Jaime and another boy called Harry were attacked by the many-eyed. As the monster has hurt Harry so badly, Jaime killed the it. But it was too late and Harry died. Short before the gigantic spider died, it screamed very loud. This way it informed the other many-eyed. Jaime heard an answer from the other monsters, what meant that they knew where they were. When Jamie killed the monster, Peter came up to him in a rage and said that he had a deal with the monsters and that he had just broken it.
When Jamie returned to the other boys and reported what happened, they knew that the many-eyed would take revenge. They decided that Jamie and Peter should make a blood trail to the pirate camp to frame the pirates for the murder. The other boys should go back to the camp.
That was the chance for Peter to tell a boy named Nip to attack Charlie because he wasn’t
protected by Jamie any more.
Peter had to go and make the Pirates angry so that they would follow him to the woods. But instead of this plan he burns the Pirate camp and leads them directly to the many-eyed nest.
After returning from the pirate camp, Peter and Jamie learned that a boy had died. But it was not Charlie, it was Del, who had tried to protect Charlie from Nip.
As Peter only said to Nip to take care of Charlie, he could deny that he wanted Nip to kill Charlie. However, he has lost 2 boys (Harry and Del) and whenever a boy dies, Peter gets new boys to replace the ones he has lost.
One of the new boys he brought to the island was called Sal, a blue eyed, dark haired youth. He was the kind of person that Jaime liked a lot. The pirates were still angry because of their burning camp, so they decided to kill the boys. They killed 6 of the boys. Thereupon Jaime killed 6 of the pirates and fed them to the sharks.
Sal also got shot by pirates and the boys found out that Sal was a girl. As girls were not
allowed in Neverland and Peter was jealous because Jaime and Sal were good friends, he planned to arrange an „accident“ to kill her.
That’s why Jaime decided that Sal had to leave the island with Charlie trough the
secret tunnel back to the other place. In the meantime Jaime began to get taller and older.
But Peter found out about the plan. So he befriends with Charlie and taught him to how to fly only to drop him directly in the many-eyed nest. Then he destroyed the secret tunnel. That made Jaime to set out to save Charlie. During that Peter killed the boys and cut off their right hand like Jaime left the pirates after killing them. In the end only Nip, Jaime and Charlie survived. Jaime and Nip decided to join the pirates. Peter demanded a fight between him and Jaime in which he cheated and cut off Jaime's right hand and stabbed a knife into his leg. Peter cursed Jaime because he did not want Jaime to grow up and die of injuries. Peter wanted Jaime to stay on the Island even if he only stays as an enemy.
My opinion of the book is that I was awaiting a nice fairy-tale and have read about dead, fights and a psychopath. That was very surprising for me.
Some situations in this book showed me what could happen if people can act without rules and consequences. But it showed also how important real friendship is. The descriptions how Jaime, Charlie and Sal helped each other, were the parts in this book, I liked the most.
I found very shocking how detailed the fights against the many eyed and the pirates and the bloody injuries the lost boys got from them, were described.
It was very well described what the Lost boys did to please Peter without hesitating and without thinking about if it is right or wrong.
The book is well written and even without understanding every single word, you will understand the story.
I can recommend the book to anyone who wants to read an extraordinary book with shocking scenes, to anyone who wants a nice book with happy end, I wouldn’t
recommend it.
