What was the Hadrian’s Wall?
In the first century A. D. the Roman emperor Hadrian pulled a 113km long connection over the British island. Still today the building marks the border between England and Scotland.
Where was Hadrian's
It stretches for about 73 miles, from Bowness on Solway on the west coast, to Wallsend on the east coast.
Why was Hadrian’s Wall built ?
The wall should prevent raids and the uncontrolled immigration of Scottish and Irish trunks on the area of the province of Britannia.
Facts about the Hadrian’s Wall?
1) 16 forts along the length of the wall(Each one could house 800 soldiers and had its own prison, hospital, bakery).
2) just one of several Roman walls built throughout Europe(f. E. the less well known Antonine Wall, located in Scotland).
3) After a time there were no longer so many romans in Great Britain
because they were used to other temperatures and other weather conditions from Italy.

It was made of stone and bit of wood, there were
14 auxiliary forts at regular intervals and 80 gates at a distance of exactly one Roman mile.
At the British side there were 2 more trenches .
Remains of Hadrian’s Wall
Today Hadrian‘s Wall is a world heritage site.
There are many remains and they allows people to walk the full length of the Wall.
