KING OF FACTORY CHILDREN
Richard Oastler was the son of a factory owner. His family was rich. He tried to improve working conditions in Britain’s mines and factories especially for the children. He attacked the use of young children after meeting John Wood. He wrote an article to the Leeds Mercury. After John Hobbouse a member of Parliament had read the article he introduced a bill to parliament which would limit child labour. Oastler was in prison he didn’t forget his fight against child labour in the British mines and factories when he was in prison. After leaving prison he continued his fight for the ten-hours day. He known as the “King of the Factory Children”.
