My presentation is about Yorkshire.
Yorkshire is on the middle of GB,on this map it´s teh blue one.
It´s the largest county of England.
Yorkshire has got three parts divided in 1974, north/east/west Yorkshire.
1.North Riding 2.West Riding 3.East Riding
This three parts are divided in ten district.
Yorkshire is 6.000 sq.miles big in km its 15.00km².
It has got a population of 5 million.
In comparison Germany is 24 times bigger than Yorkshire.
FLAGS:
1.Yorkshire ist usually represented by the White Rose of York on a blue field.
2.This new flag for YOrkshire was designed by Micheal Faul, he is the Director of the Flag Institute.
Lots of people ask what does this white rose mean. Well i tell you.
The white Rose has been a symbol of Yorkshire since the awr of the Roses between Lancaster and York in the 1400´s (1455-1485). The Yorkists of the time were represented by the white rose.
CITY:
They are 3 important Citys in Yorkshire: Leeds, York and Kinston-upon-Hull.
Leed isn´t so beautifull but have got wonderfull malls and shopping centers.
York has got one of the biggest Gothik cathedrals of the world- the York Minster. It was build in 1472.It is 524 feet long (160m) and 249 feet wide (76m).Its very famous for its windows e.g.: One of the window is big as tennisfield.
The Organ was complete destroyed and restore in 1993.
Kngston-upon-Hull is the most important seaport in England
And they are other famous cities or town like Seattle, Grassington and Harrogate which has got the expensive Betty´s Tearoom.
Betty´s Tearoom is famous for its tea all over the world.
SPORT:
Leeds has got its own footballteam they have won the Championship in 1991.
Yorkshire is famous for its horseracing in Doncaster because there is the St. Leger.
Middleham which is in the Yorkshire Dales is an important trainig camp in England.
Yorkshire is also famous for its cricket. From Yorkshire are lots of famous and successfull cricket player and umpire like Harold "Dickie" Bird: he was the best umpire; Geoffry Boycott: he was one of the best batsman ans Fred Truemann: he was a good cricket baller.
CULTURE:
The dialect in Yorkshire is called "Tyke".
Tyke is also used for the peopke there. Tyke was orginally a term of abuse given by Yorkshire people to Londoners, because they thaught their speec made them sound like yapping mongrel(tykes).Londoners turned this around and used the term to deescribe Yorkshire folk.
A typical habintant in Yorkshire has got a whippet and a flatcap. Yorkshire has got a own folkdance a kind Schwerttanz cales Long Sword a traditional dance not found anywhere in England.
FOOD:
Engalnd is famous for the yorkshire pudding. The yorkshire puding isn´t the sweet dessert. Its almost filled with eggs, salt, flour and butter.
